Lenny Devos and Jeff Desloges Pick up Right Where they Left Off!

With the World Fishing Network (WFN) cameras rolling, Renegade Bass Tour, Canada’s premiere live release Bass Fishing Tournament Trail kicked off its 22nd season on Newboro Lake on Saturday June 24th, 2017.

This was the first of four qualifier events for the 2017 season, and teams were gunning to get out of the gates strong to position themselves not only for the day’s nearly $15,000 in cash prizes, but also to keep in contention for the RBT Classic, where one team will walk-away with a brand new fully rigged Ranger and Evinrude BRP package worth more than $65,000.

As the teams filed in at the end of the day, the suspense started to build to see who would claim the top prize of $5,000. It was a familiar scene, reminiscent of the 2016 RBT Classic, as Dave Western and Duane Clifton dropped 18.37 pounds of bass, including the biggest bass of the day, a 4.82 pound kicker, on the scales to claim the lead with only one boat remaining to weigh their catch. The bad news for Dave and Duane was that it was Lenny Devos and Jeff Desloges, winners of the 2016 RBT Classic, waiting at the tanks, the team that overtook Duane and Dave for the Classic victory in 2016.

When it was all said and done the scales flashed a weight of 18.6 pounds, and the veteran team of Lenny Devos and Jeff Desloges claimed another victory and the $5,000 first place prize for their efforts. Lenny explained to the crowd that “the fish have not yet made it to their summer homes, but they are on their way. We needed to cover a ton of water today and pick through some smaller fish, but were fortunate to find the right bites. We had to fish efficiently and keep our baits in the water.” New RBT emcee Rob Jackson, told the crowd that he had witnessed Lenny and Jeff in action on the water and that “it’s no wonder you won. No one makes more casts in a day than you two”.

You can see all the action from Newboro and all the other RBT events when they air on the World Fishing Network later this year.

The next Renegade Bass event is scheduled for July 8th on Lake St. Francis out of Cornwall, Ontario.
