Portsmouth Olympic Harbour is the site of the 2018 Kingston & Thousand Islands Open
OTTAWA, CANADA – October 18, 2017 – Renegade Bass Tour, the recognized leader in live release bass tournament fishing in Canada along with HOOKSET, is pleased to announce that the 2018 Thousand Islands Open will launch out of Portsmouth Olympic Harbour in historic Kingston, Ontario – August 2-4, 2018. “We’re very excited to bring the event to the City of Kingston and build upon the tremendous success of the TIO over the last 3 years. The City of Kingston and the team at Kingston Economic Development as well as the local tourism and hospitality partners are very pleased to be hosting the biggest event in Canadian Tournament Fishing” said Matt Massey, Managing Director of Hookset. “Now we’re on the doorstep to Lake Ontario, creating a more competitive event which will also level the playing field for teams which now have full access to Lake Ontario, the St.Lawrence River and Bay of Quinte”. Portsmouth Olympic Harbour will expand tournament operations and allow anglers more options to fish Lake Ontario or the St. Lawrence River to compete for over $100,000 in cash and prizes and the chance to turn the key on a boat and motor package valued at over $55,000. “Our 2017 event was our most successful yet. We expect with our move to Kingston that our 2018 event will sell out very quickly”. Kingston borders the best smallmouth bass fishery in North America and is the gateway to the Thousand Islands & St. Lawrence River. “It’s an unbelievable opportunity for competitive anglers from across Canada and the United States” said Mike Vandenberg, President of Renegade Bass. Early Bird Registration will open in January for RBT Elite teams and anglers that have competed in an RBT Open event in 2017.
